ReviewFortiweld flange adapters enable HDPE pipelines to be safely connected to flanged equipment and metal connections. Together with a steel flange, they form a detachable, leak-proof connection.
Not every connection in a pipeline has to be permanent; on the contrary, the ability to disassemble certain points for maintenance, repair or equipment replacement provides a major operational advantage. Flanged connection systems were developed precisely to meet this need and have become an indispensable connection standard in engineering for over a century. Fortiweld HDPE Flange Adapters offer the most reliable way to detachably connect HDPE pipe systems to flanged fittings, valves, pumps and steel pipe segments.
A flange adapter is a transition element that is permanently connected to the HDPE pipe on one side by butt welding or thermal processing, and carries a flat, perforated flange surface on the other side. This flange surface is brought together with the opposing steel flange via a gasket and tightened with bolts. The resulting connection is both highly pressure-resistant and can be dismantled and reassembled when needed.
This operating principle has made flanged connections the standard of choice especially at fitting-dense points, pump rooms, valve chambers and locations that may require future intervention. Fortiweld flange adapters are manufactured in full compliance with this standard.
The Fortiweld flange adapter family is designed to address different installation conditions and field requirements:
Both types are produced with HDPE100+ raw material, ensuring material homogeneity with the pipeline; the risk of separation or transition weakness in the welding area is eliminated.
For a flanged connection to operate flawlessly, three components must be selected correctly together: the HDPE flange adapter, the appropriate gasket, and the matching steel flange. The Fortiweld product family meets these three components in a compatible manner; Steel Flange and PP Coated Steel Flange options are also included in our product portfolio. This way, project managers can procure the entire flange connection set from a single supplier, minimizing the risk of incompatibility and logistical complexity.
Gasket selection is also a critical step: the chemical properties of the transported fluid, the system temperature, and pressure values determine the correct gasket material. If you have difficulty making a decision on this matter, we recommend consulting our technical team.
The dismountable feature provided by the flanged connection reduces operating costs, especially in large infrastructure projects with long-term maintenance programs. There is no need to cut the line to replace a faulty fitting; when the flanged connection is loosened, only the related equipment is taken out of service and the line is quickly put back into operation.
During the welding of the flange adapter to the HDPE pipe, the correct adjustment of thermal processing parameters, clean and dry surfaces, and the use of suitable equipment determine the quality of the connection. The conformity of bolt tightening torques to the flange standard and the centered positioning of the gasket are critical steps for sealing. The tightening sequence applied during installation and the star-pattern bolting technique ensure homogeneous distribution of pressure on the gasket. Fortiweld flange adapters deliver reliable performance at the most critical connection points of your pipe system thanks to HDPE100+ raw material quality, manufacturing precision in compliance with industry standards, and a comprehensive product range. With short-type and standard-type options, these products respond to every installation scenario from tight spaces to large fields and are an integral part of Fortiweld's holistic HDPE solution approach. Choose the Fortiweld flange adapter family to secure the detachable connection points of your system with the right component.
The dismountable structure of flanged connections allows your system to be designed considering future maintenance and expansion needs. A flange adapter correctly chosen today saves you from the trouble of rebuilding the line from scratch during an equipment change years later. Fortiweld flange adapters are produced with the durability, material quality and standard compliance to support this foresighted approach; thus your connection points remain safe both today and in the long term.
The flange adapter is connected to the pipe on the HDPE side by butt/electrofusion welding; on the metal side it provides a bolted joint with a steel flange. The appropriate diameter and type is selected according to your line and the equipment to be connected. The pressure class of the steel flange (PN10/PN16) is determined separately. Details are on the product pages.
When selecting a flange adapter pipe diameter and tip (short/standard) that you will use together with pressure class of the steel flangeDetermine the requirements. At every point where a detachable connection is needed, the flange adapter + steel flange + gasket are used together. The Fortiweld technical team recommends the appropriate set.
