Fortiweld welding parameters
Select your Fortiweld butt welding machine, pipe material, and welding standard; calculate welding pressure, stage times, and the operator graph in seconds.
Machine, material and standard
When the machine, material, standard, diameter and wall thickness are selected, the tool automatically calculates the welding pressure and stages for supported combinations.
Results
This force is calculated from the interface pressure and the pipe fusion area.

Chart and timer
Once valid parameters have been calculated, press “Start welding”. For stages requiring manual confirmation, continue with “Next step”.
Note: The chart is an operator aid. The manufacturer’s procedure, current standards and machine calibration must also be verified in production.
Fortiweld automatically calculates welding parameters using published reference tables and formulas. Current licensed standards, material manufacturer instructions, environmental conditions and machine verification must also be considered in production. Welding quality is not guaranteed.
Frequently asked questions
What is the Fortiweld welding parameter calculator?
It is an online tool developed for Fortiweld butt welding machines. It automatically calculates the welding pressure, stage times, and operator graph according to the machine model, pipe material, welding standard, pipe diameter, and wall thickness.
Which welding standards does it support?
For PE pipes, DVS 2207-1 and ISO 21307 (SLP, DLP, SHP) reference tables and formulas are used; for PP pipes, DVS 2207-11 is used. Since there is no validated automatic table for PVDF, PE-RT, and PA12, no parameters are generated for these materials.
How is total welding pressure calculated?
The pipe welding cross-section is found using the formula π × (D × s − s²) and multiplied by the standard's interface pressure to obtain the welding force. This force is divided by the machine's total effective cylinder area to calculate the theoretical welding pressure (bar); the measured drag pressure is added to determine the total pressure to be set on the machine.
What is drag pressure?
Drag pressure is the pressure required to move the moving carriage together with the connected pipe. It must be measured on the machine before each weld and entered into the relevant field in the calculator; if left blank, it is assumed to be 0.
Do the calculated values replace the approved WPS?
No. The values are based on published reference tables and formulas; they are not an approved welding procedure specification (WPS) or a welding quality certificate. The current standard, material manufacturer instructions, environmental conditions, and machine calibration must also be verified.
